Jon Prusmack

Jon Prusmack played varsity football at Notre Dame, Navy (a member of the class of 1966) and NYU and served in the Marine Corps reserves. His rugby career began after he left the Naval Academy for NYU in 1965 where he played for 15yrs with the Westchester Rugby Club and NY Athletic Club. Jon’s involvement in rugby continued long after his playing career . A highly successful entrepreneur, Jon established American International Media and ultimately owned the U.S. stop on the IRB 7s World Series of tournaments which has since been renamed the USA 7s. Additionally, Jon established the Collegiate Rugby Championship, the Sevens National Championship. Jon’s dedication and support to growing the game of Rugby in the United States extended to the Naval Academy as well as the US Military Academy. He significantly contributed to funding the U.S. Naval Academy Prusmack Rugby Complex, the only three pitch college facility in the United States and helped fund the rugby pitch at West Point, known as Warrior Field. He was selected to the US Rugby Foundation Hall of Fame in 2013. His generosity and commitment to Navy Rugby was instrumental in Navy continuing its unmatched success and becoming a varsity sport. Jon passed away in 2018 leaving a great legacy for US rugby.
