The uncertainty surrounding these times continues but we are planning for a full Fall season. We are also working on contingency measures should our hopes of playing against opposition teams, fall through. We hope everyone is keeping safe and well and we cannot wait to get back out onto the rugby pitch as soon as possible.
The coaches are excited to work with this year’s Firstie team leaders. The Class of 2021 were plebes when I came to the Naval Academy so it is exciting to watch them develop and take their final steps into the Fleet. Audrey Hollis, Grace Stevens, Phil Dalke, Kevin Strehle and Joey Hobbs will lead their respective teams for the coming season and set out their expectations.
Our Decades’ Zoom calls have been a lot of fun! From my perspective it is amazing to watch old teammates reconnect and revisit the calling to Navy Rugby. To date, we have heard from the teams of the 1960s and ‘70s, with the 1980s call scheduled for August. It is enlightening and exciting to witness our rich history come together. I encourage you to make the call for your decade, to catch up with your rugby brothers and sisters and hear all about the current program.
I would like to extend a very big thank you to MAJ Ryan Curry ‘03 who has been our O-Rep for the past three years. Ryan has been an invaluable mentor to the Midshipmen and we have all benefited greatly from his presence with Navy Rugby. Thank you for your service and congratulations on your retirement Chyna!
