Chuck entered USNA from Sunnyvale, California and served as a nuclear submariner for 9 years active duty following graduation. Chuck played Navy rugby for four years starting at scrum half for the “A” side for three years and never lost a match to Army. He was a team leader and outstanding player on the ’79 and ’80 final four teams and was club president and team captain his first class year.  After graduation, Chuck continued playing at various duty stations, including selection as team MVP for the Iron Horse Rugby club in Orlando, selection to an all-Central Florida select side, two partial seasons with the Virginia Beach RFC, and participation on an all-military select side in Hawaii while stationed in Pearl Harbor. Chuck co-founded a rugby club at the Yale School of Management while studying for his MBA and played his final two seasons there as a player.  He served briefly as an assistant coach at University of Tennessee before hanging up his boots for good.
