General Carl Fulford

General Carl Fulford hails from Millen, GA and graduated from the Naval Academy in 1966. Gen Fulford was instrumental in establishing the original Navy rugby team in 1963. After graduation, he became an Infantry Officer and served in Vietnam as a both a Platoon Commander and a Company Commander during the Tet Offensive. Gen Fulford served as the Commanding General, I Marine Expeditionary Force and Commanding General, III Marine Expeditionary Forces before retiring after his final assignment as Deputy Commander in Chief, United States European Command. In addition to being a founding member of Navy Rugby, Gen Fulford was also a catalyst in establishing the Navy Rugby Excellence Fund, the construction of the Prusmack Rugby Center and the transition of Navy Rugby to a varsity sport. He was selected as a USNA Distinguished Graduate in 2010.
