1998 Women’s Team
Outstanding Team
Inducted 2024
The 1998 Women’s Team finished 3rd in the nation by beating Air Force in only the Women’s program’s 3rd year of existence. Enroute to this tremendous accomplishment, the 1998 Women’s team won the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Football Union Championship (MARFU) in their inaugural season in the conference. They quickly established Navy Women’s Rugby as a perennial national contender, beating nationally ranked teams like Penn State, Princeton, and Virginia Tech along the way. Many of the players were selected to the All-MARFU team and several went on to become All-Americans. This 1998 team coined the term “Love the Legacy” and was significant in establishing the foundation for the Women’s Rugby’s winning culture.
