1986 Team

The 1986 team had a dominant run of winning 19 consecutive games throughout the fall and spring seasons. During this undefeated period, they won the Potomac Rugby and Mid-Atlantic Rugby Championships before losing a tight match to Dartmouth in the Eastern Rugby Championship game. The team set a precedence as being the premier service academy rugby program by winning the inaugural Interservice Academy Tournament Championship. The team added to USNA’s international rugby recognition by playing the Australian National University, the U-23 Newport Wales team and the Royal Military College of Canada. Several members of the team have been selected to the USNA Rugby Hall of Fame. The 1986 team remains staunch supporters of Navy Rugby through their NRAA leadership positions and overall support to the alumni efforts.
