1969 Team
Outstanding Team
Inducted 2022
The 1969 Navy team was the catalyst that established Navy Rugby as an East Coast powerhouse and soon a dominating program on the National stage. Navy Rugby was only in its sixth year of existence when the 1969 team won the Potomac Rugby College Division which was as far as they could progress. There was not yet a National play-off structure. The team also won every tournament they entered. Their success set the benchmark for future Navy Rugby teams. Additionally, many members of the 1969 served as ambassadors for the program as they went on to play for base teams like Pensacola, Coronado and Camp Lejeune and they remain staunch supporters of Navy Rugby.
